OBITUARY Mrs Leonilde Gregoire
It was with a great sadness that we learned of the death of Leonilde (born Laurenco), the devoted wife of Marc Gregoire, personal friend, and contributor to Mauritius News.
Leonilde passed away on December 11 in Battersea at the age of 84 after a long illness. Her funeral took place on December 21 at the Putney Heath Cemetery.
Leonilde will be greatly missed by all those who loved her, especially by her ideal husband Marc. Leonilde was herself an ideal partner to Marc for the 46 years of a happy married life.
We wish to express our deepest sympathy to Marc, and
to all those who mourn her death, here in England and in Portugal (her home country).
Many relatives and friend, old an new, have given Marc immense support in his moment of great sadness. He is thankful to all of them but, as he says, they are numerous to mention. However, he wishes to express his particular gratitude, without causing offence, to five persons who have been with him from the start to the end. He wants to say a special thank-you to his solicitor, Julian Cooper, his brother-in-law Jao Laurenco, close friend Maria Martius, and to his long-standing friends, Nonos Vassodeven & his wife Chimee, who have stood by him like a solid rock.

In Memoriam Usha Devi P.Vulakan
Usha Devi Puthuvulakan (born Chuttoo) passed away on July 20 at the age of 34 in Tooting, South London. She had not been well for some time.
On her funeral memorial card is a beautiful quote from the Bhagavad Gita: “The spirit is neither born nor does it die at any time. It does not come into being, nor cease to exist.”
“There is no flower as beautiful as our Usha,” is a wonderful tribute on the card. We sympathize with the parents on this great loss.
Usha was born in May 1983. She was only six months’ old when Mauritius News was created in November that year. We have known her since then because her father Singh was with us at the very out- set as a faithful supporter.
The loss of Usha will be on the parents’ mind at this time of the year and we wish them to know that we have them in our thoughts with affection.
